Letter from the President
As we go about the business of our lives in service of our bosses, our customers, and our communities, we must never take for granted those people in our lives who enable us to do so. The positive network of support we enjoy from family and friends may at times be invisible, but its effect is invaluable. It sustains us, enabling us to give generously and receive gratefully. We can reach for the stars with a stable foundation beneath us, while our footing is unsure without it. The ICADV works each day to restore and preserve these essential positive relationships.
In one day in 2010, the ICADV member programs assisted 2,001 victims in the state. Of those 2,001, 1,042 domestic violence victims found refuge in emergency shelters or transitional housing provided by local domestic violence programs and 959 adults and children received non-residential assistance and services, including individual counseling, legal advocacy, and children’s support groups.
This work is selfless and emotionally difficult, but the strong, dedicated staff at the ICADV and the member programs throughout the state, take pride in doing it well because it is so important.
I personally would like to thank our members for their active participation and services, our donors who provide additional support so that we can continue our positive efforts, and our providers who have worked tirelessly to serve those who are most vulnerable.
If you haven’t already, please consider supporting the ICADV by clicking on the “donate” tab at the top of our website. Your donations help ensure that the ICADV can meet its stated mission to not only prevent, but also eliminate, domestic violence.
Thank you for your time and for your support of the ICADV.
Mark Reichel
Board President
