Each legislative session, the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence identifies key issues or proposed bills that might have an impact, direct or indirect, on survivors, perpetrators, or our service provider programs. ICADV has prioritized three levels of advocacy; leadership, collaborative involvement, and monitoring. Leadership issues are those proposals around which ICADV will draft legislation, find sponsors, and/ or fully participate in developing and implementing legislative and/ or administrative strategy. Collaborative involvement allows ICADV to testify and write testimony when requested. Proposals warranting monitoring are those, after all bills are filed, ICADV evaluates as intentionally or unintentionally negatively impacting survivors or ICADV programs and therefore requiring ICADV to actively work to prevent from passing. In the 2017 Legislative Session, ICADV has identified a number of proposals that fall into each category. Click here to see the 2017 legislative agenda.
