This section of our website allows us to praise (and accordingly wag a finger at) those decision makers who have the tough job of addressing the legal issues of importance to domestic violence survivors in Indiana.

We have our first JEER by questioning the new Protective Order Policy adopted and implemented by Henry County Courts. Indiana’s Civil Protective Order Act is designed to offer survivors economic justice as well as physical safety. When Henry County Courts refuse to even entertain requests for temporary child support or an emergency eviction from a residence—that is NOT using the law given us by the legislature and it is NOT providing adequate justice to survivors.

Special CHEER for attorney Alan Bouwkamp who not only understands the issue of domestic violence, but represents survivors with that in mind. He is exceptional as are his colleagues and staff at Newton Becker & Bouwkamp.
