ICADV Creates the Skivvies for Kiddies Project
Many times victims leave an abusive home with nothing more than their children and the clothes on their back. Through generous donations from the community, clothes can be replaced. But often, the one unaddressed item of need is new underwear.
It is especially difficult on the children who enter shelter. They, too, are suffering by being displaced from their homes and often are too ashamed to ask for new underwear. Situations like changing for gym class at school while wearing tattered and old underwear can cause additional feelings of shame.
The Skivvies for Kiddies project addresses this need. The Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence is currently seeking donations of new underwear and socks for the program. Underwear for boys and girls in all sizes is desperately needed. Teens sizes especially are needed.
Donations will be accepted at the ICADV office, 1915 W. 18th Street, Suite B or call (317) 917-3685 to coordinate a pick up. For more information, email Jessica Marcum at jmarcum@icadvinc.org.
