Leadership Issue
This level of involvement allows ICADV’s Legislative Committee to draft legislation, find sponsors, and/ or fully participate in developing and implementing legislative and/ or administrative strategy.
Victim Notification:
ICADV will actively support legislation that will incorporate updated forms of communication into the victim notification process and will require notice to the victim of release “when charged,” in addition to “when convicted.”
Batterers’ Intervention Programs:
ICADV will actively support legislation that will recognize the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence as the sole certifying body of batterers’ intervention programs.
Crime of Domestic Battery:
ICADV will actively support legislation that will expand the definition of the crime of domestic violence and exempt individuals convicted of the crime of domestic violence from receiving an alternate misdemeanor sentence (AMS).
Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team:
ICADV will actively support legislation that will expand the ability of the Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team to review suicides.
Limited Involvement
This level of involvement allows ICADV’s Legislative Committee to testify and write testimony when requested.
Monitoring
This level of involvement allows ICADV’s Legislative Committee to disseminate information, watch and report on the progress of an issue or piece of legislation.
Monitor any other items of interest.
