Racing fans are invited to donate wireless phones and accessories, from any carrier, during May to raise funds for domestic violence programs. Collection sites are located throughout Indiana, including all Verizon Wireless stores. At the May 7 announcement, Verizon presented a $50,000 HopeLine grant to ICADV to support the Emergency housing and Transportation Survivor Fund. The Indiana drive is also part of a national goal from HopeLine to collect 1 million phone donations in 2015.
During May, race fans can find HopeLine volunteers and boxes at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at entrance gates 1, 3, 9 and 10A at the following events:
- Indianapolis 500 qualifications, Saturday, May 16
- Old National Armed Forces Pole Day, Sunday, May 17
- Coors Light Carb Day, Friday, May 22
- Indianapolis 500, Sunday, May 24
IndyCar driver Helio Castroneves joined the kick-off of HopeLine in Indiana. “I’m encouraging racing fans and members of the community to join me in supporting HopeLine so that we come together to prevent domestic violence.”
